Latin-American Websites
By José Reyes
I am dedicating this web page to all the interesting Latin-American websites on the Internet. I will be evaluating all the Latin-American websites intensely and will be placing the ones that interest me the most here, with a short description, so the Cubanology.com community can look them over. I will be concentrating on the preservation of Heritage and Tradition as top priorities behind my evaluations. These websites posted here are also very informative and very educational. Most of these websites are Bilingual which is very important.

| OlavoCarvalho.com
This web
site brings information about the life, works and ideas of the Brazilian
philosopher Olavo de Carvalho as well as translations of selected pieces
from his most relevant books. The keynote of his work is the defense of
human interiority against the tyranny of collective authority, above all
when this tyranny relies on a “scientific” ideology. To Olavo de
Carvalho there is an unbreakable link between the objectivity of
knowledge and the autonomy of individual conscience. Tri-Lingual

FromWebsite: On April 17, 1961 nearly 1,400 brave and idealistic Cuban exiles, backed by the United States, stormed the beaches at the Bay of Pigs. Their mission: to liberate Cuba from Castro's communist dictatorship. They fought ferociously, against overwhelming odds, without their promised air support. Three days later they were all captured or killed. This is the story of Brigade 2506... |
From Website: About Us This site is dedicated to all the people suffering under an oppressive government on the amazing island of Cuba. It is an open environment where thoughts can be expressed freely in a forum style setting. |
From Website:
About Us: A profound lack of understanding of the huge cost in
lives of the Cuban Revolution has contributed to pervasive ignorance of
the brutal nature of the Castro regime. The names and faces of many
victims remain unknown, their stories untold. Telling their stories may
move people and nations to demand the end of oppression. More
enduringly, learning of the human cost of these tragic events can move
people to forsake violence as a means to forge their history....

This website is about the "Real" Cuba and is supported by "Real" evidence, from Journalists who are there, with "Real" actual pictures taken by Cubans who are there. "Defenders of Intellectual
Freedom". This Bilingual website Spanish/English was created
for preservation of books written by Cubans in Cuba that have written
books secretly, during the last 45 years and who are being deprived of the right
of speech, which is a direct result of Castro's total discrimination of
his own people. Castro has a "Blockade of information" leaving
Cuba because he is afraid the world will find out what exactly is occurring
in Cuba and how he is treating his people. He is also confiscating any
books that are have been written with reference to the ideals of
Democracy. This organization is
"Democracy" at work, "Freedom of Expression",
"Freedom of Speech", "Freedom".

Camagueyanos.Com This website is proudly dedicated to the province of Camaquey, Cuba and to "Freedom" in Cuba. I'll let the website speak for itself.

OrishaProdutions.Com: Orisha Productions is dedicated to the preservation of Cuban music, most importantly the African rhythm and dance which put Cuba on the map, the "Rumba". This Bilingual website educates the reader with the origins of the Rumba and provides the reader with videos of bands that are keeping it alive in Cuba now. This website is very educational to music lovers, take a good look at the website and the links associated with it. From Website:"Enter now the AfroCuban Rumba, a sound unique to Cuba. There have always been Cubans whom migrated to the United States that kept Rumba tradition alive. But for the most part the majority has lived in New York, Miami San Francisco and other larger cities leaving a huge unfulfilled yearning. That is the original reason for my visiting Cuba, to hear for myself if it really existed. It does. And beyond what I expected. The music of the Santeria religion was as close as we could get. The music associated with the religion, ideally played on bata' is played as well on a chair for a drum, a tea kettle for a cowbell, or spoons for clave, a lead singer and coro and the soul. Rogelio Marti (deceased)in the United States and Francisco Aguabella in the west coast and a few other non-Cubans have carried the torch so to speak for many years, but now the Cuban Rumba is alive and well for anyone anywhere to view to their hearts content. Whether for studying or pleasure or both, the choice is now yours."
