"The Dangers SARS Present To The World"

By Jose Reyes                                           March 18, 2003

The WHO (World Health Organization) have created a Global Outbreak Alert Response Network ( 11 laboratories in 10 countries). The CDC( (The Center for Disease Control) is reassuring everyone that SARS is not as dangerous as expected. They feel SARS is not another type of Influenza. Testing results are leaning more towards an exotic virus. Majority of the people infected are health workers and family members who had very close contact with the infected, they were caring for. Influenza is very contagious and spreads in an extremely fast fashion. A good sign though, is that the strength of this virus weakens as it passes from person to person.

I am pleased to hear the new reports surfacing in recent days. The chance of an epidemic is very slim, but remember there is no cure yet, for this so-called exotic virus. I guess the people who died were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the next few days I am going to investigate further, on what exactly the difference between  bacteria and  viruses (Click to see Report). I'm also going to write an article on the history of Influenza. How it develops and how it spreads.
