Anabolic Inhibitors: Cheating!
By Jose Reyes 10/24/03
The US Anti-Doping Agency has accused Mr. Vincent Conte for introducing and supplying the world of Olympic and professional athletes with a new designer steroid named THG (Tetrahydrogestrinone). This agency was created for the prevention of steroid use in Olympic athletes and has produced a list of 40 well known athletes which include San Francisco Giants' Barry Bonds, New York Yankees' Jason Giambi and famous world class sprinter Kelli White. Mr. Conte is the designer of BEV ZMA which is sold as a Magnesium and Zinc supplement that enhances healthy hormone production. Retail sales of this formula have reached $100 Million within the last 4 years worldwide. Mr. Conte has been supplying the world of sports with numerous products for 16 years and is well known as one of the leading scientists and designers of nutritional supplements. Mr. Conte's company BALCO (Bay Area Laboratory Cooperative), located in Burlingame, California was ransacked by the USADA and seized until further notice. Mr. Conte has been subpoenaed and is being charged with illegal distribution of the designed steroid to specific athletes, not to mention, the IRS is sticking there nose in there also. There are numerous personal trainers for the athletes in question that are also being subpoenaed.
In the world of sports today, where salaries are so ridiculously high, the athletes are looking for any advantage against there competitors to remain on the top of there game. This is the reason why they administer themselves with syringed fed anabolic steroids, to get the so-called "edge" on the competition. These steroids are psychologically addictive to these athletes, in the sense of, greed and notoriety. These steroids will contribute to the sudden physical downfall of the athlete after retirement. These athletes are cheating the sport they participate in, but most important, are cheating the fans. Not to mention, the whole concept of "team sport" is diminishing in front of our eyes. The reason fans are so passionate about sports around the world is because of the admiration they have of the incredible physical feats performed by their favorite athletes and the team effort they exert. The fans love these athletes also because of the intense training they partake and the sacrifice they make to improve their team play, while pushing us psychologically with our daily life. In the world we live now, competition is very fierce and their influence, indirectly, help us to succeed. I am totally outraged and I feel betrayed to hear of any minute illegal infraction attempted by any athlete to get an edge on the competition. Professional athletes have an obligation to their fans and should be punished severely for cheating. If in the process of cheating they accomplished some kind of championship or record, then they should be stripped of them. We all know that something funny is going on here and I will eagerly be following this story very closely.
