"So Obvious" and "Not so Obvious"

            Within the last 2 months Alex and I have been text messaging each other whenever we think of or run into a Cubanism. I'm working and he's in school, we might go on for hours and sometimes days, text messaging or we might be too busy to totally concentrate on new Cubanisms for days. Sometimes, a great one comes up and I have to immediately stop what I'm doing, no matter how important it is and send him a text message. After all, what's more important?? It's funny because it's a type of competition we are having between ourselves but at the same time it's a joint project that we are creating and in turn, packaging for you all. I feel all Cuban-Americans should do this text messaging thing with each other on a daily basis, it brightens up the day, you know what I mean? You just can't take life so seriously, you owe it to yourself. The problem, as you all know, is that we are limited to who we can explain these Cubanisms to because they either will not understand it or they might just think we are crazy and/or childish, what can I say, they just have no sense of humor. Thank god for the internet, we are able to share all our Cubanisms with each other and those who do not have many Cuban-Americans near them can enjoy themselves also. Below are the Cubanisms that Alex and I have accumulated in the past 2 months, some were so obvious that we never thought of them and others took some careful observation to notice them. Some are obvious and others are not. Enjoy!

English to Cuban

1. "He/She did it without wanting to" = "Lo hizo sin querer"

2. "He/She gave me a tremendous moller" = "Me dio una tremenda muela"

3. "You were poorly raised" = "Eres un mal criado"

4. "Hope you pass it well" = "Que la pases bien"

5. "It is good" = "Esta bien"

6. "It snores the balls" = "Le ronca los cojo...s"

7. "It makes great time outside" = "Hace muy buen tiempo afuera"

8. "He/She took the red" and "Don't take the red" = "Se llevo la roja" y "No te lleves la roja"

9. "What a savage you are" = "Eres un Salvaje"

10. "She's an omelet maker" = "Ella es una tortillera"

11. "Don't be so farmer-like" = "No sea tan guajiro"

12. "You got to have battery drums" = "Tienes que tener Timbales"

13. ''I'm so hungry, I'm cross-eyed" = "Tengo un hambre que estoy bisco"

14. "Don't paint yourself" = "No te pintes"

15.  "He/She is a head breaker"  = "Es un rompe cabeza"

16. "Squeeze the foot" = "Aprieta la pata"

17. "He put a scream that reached Spain" = "Metio un grito que llego a Espańa"

18. "Those pants stay too small on you" = "Ese pantalon te queda muy chiquito"

20. Have Care! = Ten Quidado!
